Does the walker choose the path, or the path the walker?

Like everyone else, I was dragged into LiveJournal by peer pressure (which raises interesting questions about the first LJ users, but nevermind). For those who don't know me, my name is Stephen and I'm studying English Literature and Psychology at Trinity College Dublin. I'm a geek and proud of it, own several Penny Arcade T-shirts and have read a large proportion of all the sci-fi and fantasy novels out there. I play D&D at the great Trinity Gamers society (yay!) and love fantasy literature - when you have a spare hour, ask me about my opinions of different concepts of magic in fantasy. Things I love: any new fantasy; the anime Fullmetal Alchemist; the works of H.P. Lovecraft, Robert Jordan, Terry Pratchett and many others; computer games; highly obscure references; correct punctuation (particularly ellipses).
